Updated: May 26

Updated May 26, 2026, 9:20AM

As an equestrian community living in proximity to wild open space, we need to be vigilant and proactive planners for not only our human household, but our animals as well. We will continue to provide the community with resources to help you plan for future wildfires and evacuation. Please review this initial document provided as a first step. Then stay tuned for meetings and planning workshops to come.

Old Agoura Emergency Planning for Large Animals

Wednesday, June 3, 5:30 PM, City of Agoura Hills Event Center, Please RSVP with Mary Haddad: mhaddad@agourahillscity.gov.

The City of Agoura Hills would like to work with the Old Agoura community to develop a large animal response plan focused on emergency preparedness and response for horses and other large animals during disasters. As part of this effort, the City is evaluating national models and discussing potential volunteer coordination, trainings, communication strategies, and staging areas that could help support emergency response efforts if resources become limited during a major incident. Community input is an important part of this process. We invite Old Agoura residents, equestrians, and large animal owners to participate in a survey to help guide future planning and engagement efforts.
